Sophia Patella
Breakout Session Teacher
Sophia Patella serves as the Collaborative Piano Accompanist at Cuyamaca College and a passionate freelance performer and educator. Originally from San Diego, CA, she began her classical piano studies at the age of 5 and has over 15 years of experience playing woodwind instruments. Sophia earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University in 2020, studying with renowned instructors such as Gila Goldstein, Victor Cayres & Bryan Verhoye.
In addition to her performance career, Sophia serves as the Director of Instruction at the San Diego Music & Arts Coalition, where she facilitates music education in elementary and middle schools across San Diego. She is deeply committed to bringing high-quality music instruction to young learners in diverse educational settings.
With over a decade of experience in performance and teaching, Sophia has performed in a wide range of genres including Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Musical Theater. She regularly collaborates with musicians in various settings, sharing her expertise in both solo and ensemble work. As an educator, she strives to foster both technical skill and artistic expression in her students, helping them build a lifelong appreciation for music.
